Calculations are illustrations, not forecasts

The calculators on this site take assumptions that you enter — returns, inflation, yields, life expectancy — and compound them arithmetically. They describe what would happen if those assumptions held exactly, every year, for the whole period. They will not.

Actual investment returns vary, often dramatically, and can be negative. Inflation varies. Dividends and distributions are discretionary and can be reduced or stopped. Tax law changes. Life expectancy is unknowable. No output on this site is a prediction, a projection you should rely on, or any form of guarantee. Historical returns are not indicative of future returns.

The methodology page sets out the conventions, simplifications and known limitations of each calculation in detail. We recommend reading it before relying on any figure.

No personalised advice

This site does not know your circumstances and does not attempt to. Where a calculator produces an output based on figures you entered — a funding gap, a required monthly investment, a sustainable withdrawal — that output is a mathematical consequence of your inputs, not a recommendation about what you should do. Your tax position, health, dependants, job security, existing commitments and risk tolerance are not captured anywhere in these tools, and all of them matter.

Before making any financial decision, consider seeking advice from a SEBI-registered investment adviser or another appropriately qualified professional who can take your full circumstances into account.

Any reference to tax on this site is general in nature and simplified. Tax treatment depends on the law in force at the relevant time, on the specific instrument, on the holding period and on your individual circumstances, and it changes.
